Well, we told Eve that she's having a brother but she seems to be in denial. When we first told her, she cried, ran to her room and slammed the door and stayed in there ignoring us. Now she has just decided that she's getting a sister no matter what other people tell her. I've tried mention her new brother here and there but she simply doesn't believe me. OK, whatever.
According to my last post, Jack was going to stay home with me this semester instead of going to preschool but after some thought I decided he should go. And I'm really glad I made that decision because I feel my sanity is pretty important. Now I have two afternoons a week without any kids. I almost don't know what to do with myself. What did I do before I had kids?
Preschool makes him super tired. Yay! I suppose all that drool means it's a really good nap.
On Saturday we celebrated our 8 year anniversary. Since it wasn't a very momentous number we didn't do anything too exciting... just dinner and a movie. The movie was cute and funny but dinner was terrible! We went to a new place that some friends had told us was good but we were both sooooo disappointed. I got the ribs and even though I was pretty darn hungry, I couldn't even finish because they were so nasty. When the owner/manager stoped by our table to ask how everything tasted I know I could have taken the opportinuty to say something but I hate being the person to make a fuss. At least we know not to eat there again. But we did ditch the kids overnight and so that was really nice. That means we got to go to church kidless. When people ask where the kids are we just tell them they didn't want to get up so we left them at home. I must admit that is pretty tempting some days... just turn on the TV and leave some snacks out. I'm sure they would be fine for only three hours... if by fine I mean I don't mind if my house looks pretty much like a scene from Jumanji when I get home. Other than that it sounds like a good idea.
Anyways, all in all it was nice just to spend some grown-up time together.
Earlier in the day we took Jack to the health fair at the local hospital.
They had the Life Flight helicopter there for the kids to see upclose and sit inside. Since Eve was already with one of the grandmas, Jack got to enjoy this special moment all by himself.
Jack is obsessed with the Life Flight heli. Since we live so close to the hospital it flies right over our house all the time. If he hears it coming, he loves to run to the window and watch it fly over.
Getting to see it upclose totally made his day.
We also got to "see" it take off right by us. Not only was it a super windy day in the first place but then add a helicopter to the mix and we ended up covered in dirt and grit. Fun.
Good thing I shot a video because we couldn't even watch it with all the stuff flying into our eyes.
I'm sure you can tell I am filming like a blind person.
They also had a huge blow-up obstacle course that Jack decided to tackle.
A couple weeks ago they had a little carnival at the assisted living center where my Grandma Louise is staying. The kids loved the pony rides.
I'm always amazed at what ordinary things ends up being the kids' new favorite pay thing. Right now it's a big box. Well, hopefully they use this new "toy" for good and not evil.
A box, eh? Sounds like a good place for time out. jk. kinda.
ReplyDeleteI think it's so hilarious that Eve is so set on a girl. Poor thing. Hilarious, but a little heartbreaking too.
I love the helicopter flying video. I'm pretty sure we saw it. And I'm pretty sure I laughed and snorted a bit watching Kole shield his face. haha!
